This Week in Dumb MMA Stuff

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s crazier than Viacheslav Datsik.

Fights – Even though UFC 151 was canceled, there was still ONE FC 5:  Pride of a Nation, which was pretty awesome!

Phil “I’m the Best Evah!” Baroni started things off with a nice showcase of his Long Islander roots, decked out in a Yankees jersey and firing off double middle fingers to the crowd during his walkout.

In the actual fight, Baroni won via soccer kicks and punches against his “pony boy” opponent, Rodrigo Ribeiro, putting Baroni back to a .500 record.  Hopefully the New York Badass can continue to floss.

Check out more fights and news after the jump!

Andrei Arlovski’s apparent victory over Tim Sylvia was turned into a no contest due to soccer kicks, because ONE FC has weird rules regarding when you are allowed to kick and stomp a downed opponent’s face into a jelly.

For further proof, here's Shannon Wiratchai kicking Mitch Chilson to a No Contest.  Thankfully, ONE FC is going to use full PRIDE rules regarding soccer kicks for ONE FC 6.

Shai Lindsey broke two cardinal rules of MMA:  Having dumb hair and dropping your hands to taunt.  He paid for both transgressions by getting knocked out by a switch kick and punches by Carlo Junio.

Sue Hemenway lost to Shelly Hartwell by armbar in about twenty seconds.  This is notable because Sue is 61 and Shelly is in her early twenties.   Despite losing so quickly, Sue is much better than I am for actually fighting.

News – Things happened!  Here are some things!

Jose Aldo was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle.  Apparently Frank Mir's long hiatus stemming from his own motorcycle accident hasn't deterred other UFC champions from riding bikes.  Luckily for Aldo, he was uninjured and should be able to defend his Featherweight title at UFC 153 against not Eric Koch, as he's hurt and will be replaced with Frankie Edgar (What?  That dude's lost two in a row!  This is bullshit, Dana!)

Here's the trailer for Badass Brock, starring Don Frye's awesome mustache, featuring Don Frye.  I'm working on write ups of some past Frye fights, but I get hung up starring at his mustache.

No live MMA coming up this weekend (That I'm aware of, anyway), but The Ultimate Fighter 16 is coming up on 9/14.  We've got a large, muscley man coaching against a smaller fat man that's not as fat as he used to be, and they don't really care for each other. Should be fun!
